The island of Zakynthos is the third largest of the Ionian Islands and is well-known worldwide for its artistic and poetic heritage. As the native land of the great writer of the National Anthem of Greece and home of the Smugglers Cove - one of Greece's most famous beaches - Zakynthos is a treat for travellers of all types.
Argassi is a lively popular holiday resort 10 min away from Zakynthos Town and Laganas. This town is unique because it has the fantastic Mount. Skopos as a backdrop. The beach is shingle, narrow (1 km long) with many coves and crystal clear waters, with facilities for water sports. There are many bars, restaurants, taverns and night clubs. It is the ideal destination for families with teenagers.
Kalamaki is a popular sophisticated resort situated on the southeast coast of the island, 5 km away from Zante Town and 1 km away from the airport. It has a bay with a long sandy beach with shallow crystal clear waters - it is an extension of Laganas Beach - with facilities just for pedallos, since water sports are forbidden due to the fact that occasionally, Caretta-Caretta turtles come to reproduce here. There are many classy restaurants, bars, clubs and souvenir shops. This destination is ideal for families.
Tragaki is a picturesque village situated next to Tsilivi bay, at a distance of about 7 km from Zakynthos town. It offers a great choice of sandy beaches, a few accommodations, taverns and a wonderful view of the Ionian Sea among vineyards, gardens and olive trees. The picturesque port nearby is big enough to service the local fishing boats. Its crystal clear waters, in combination with the fine white sand of its beaches make it an ideal vacation spot.
Tsilivi is one of the main resorts of Zante, situated on the north east coast of the island, just 9 km from the airport and 5 km of Zante Town. It is a very green area, with olive groves and vineyards, with a gorgeous golden beach and crystal clear waters awarded by the European Union with the Blue Flag. This beach also has facilities for water sports and beach bars. The area is full with taverns and restaurants, bars and nightclubs. It is the perfect destination for families, since it offers a full range of facilities such as mini golf and bowling.
Laganas, is a resort for the young with bars and nightlife 24/7 and should avoided at all costs.

Greece Overnight Stay TaxFrom 1 January 2018, you’ll need to pay an Overnight Stay Tax which has been introduced by the Greek Ministry of Tourism and aims to enhance the State’s revenue in the context of the current fiscal adjustment programme. This will be collected from you when you get to your accommodation. The tax works out at €3 per room for 4* hotels, €4 per room for 5* hotels. When and how to pay: You’ll be asked to pay the tax when you check-in at your accommodation, this can be paid by cash or card Why do I have to pay: The tax is something new and specifically aimed at tourists. It’s a cost beyond our control and the suppliers of the accommodation. It’s a Government imposed tax that has to be paid when you stay in accommodation in Greece. Whilst our website holiday information does mention the possibility of local taxes like this, we understand this cost is something you probably weren’t expecting to pay and are sorry the Government has decided to bring this in so quickly.
