Mykonos Town Holidays:
You've seen those pictures in the advertisements of the restaurant tables all lit up with candles at night stretching endlessly around a harbour - welcome to Mykonos Town. This town certainly has authentic Greek island character, the white-washed walls, blue shutters, narrow cobbled streets full of chic shops and boutiques. The harbour by day is full of ferries coming and going connecting Mykonos to the other islands and Piraeus on the mainland and by night is a picture as all the tavernas and restaurants all illuminated by candlelight. Nearby 'Little Venice' - so called for its arcaded medieval house built on the waterside, is a chic area of boutiques, art galleries and cafes - just the place to be seen. Platys Yialos Holidays:
The second most cosmopolitan and frequented area on Mykonos Island, is located on the South of Mykonos Town. Platys Yialos with its excellent beach in combination with its natural beauty and wide range of tourist venues, accommodations, restaurants, bars, make it the ideal holiday destination. The settlement also includes several of the island’s major archaeological sites. From Platys Yialos, which is approximately 5 km from the airport, visitors can reach other beaches and villages on the island by boat.
Elia Holidays:
The beach of Elia, at a distance of 10 km south east to Mykonos town, is the biggest and the best organized and developed beach at the southern part of the island. Luxurious hotels, and bungalows, taverns and high class restaurants and sea sport facilities are available. It is at this beach that has been established the only Water Park of the island, another spot of fun, especially for children and young people. Elia is approximately 10 km from the airport.
Ornos Bay:
Ornos is a seaside village located on the southwestern side of Mykonos Island that is especially popular for its beautiful beach and the variety of famous hotels. Ornos beach has a well developed tourist infrastructure, including countless restaurants, cafés, bars and frequent transportation to and from and to Mykonos Town and other beaches on the island. Each dish is well thought out to bring out the savoury identity of olives, capers, citrus, fresh seafood and local vegetables. The Sea and Land of Mykonos starter features artichokes escabeche, grilled octopus, black-eyed beans, blood orange, lime and virgin olive oil. Signature dishes are also a delightful sea and land journey, including the rack of lamb with potato gnocchi, sweetbread tempura and a crunchy kokoretsi (lamb organs cooked on a skewer over hot coals), and the red mullet savore with tomatoes compote, onion, rosemary and local vinegar. Greece Overnight Stay Tax
From 1 January 2018, you’ll need to pay an Overnight Stay Tax which has been introduced by the Greek Ministry of Tourism and aims to enhance the State’s revenue in the context of the current fiscal adjustment programme. This will be collected from you when you get to your accommodation. The tax works out at €3 per room for 4* hotels, €4 per room for 5* hotels. When and how to pay: You’ll be asked to pay the tax when you check-in at your accommodation, this can be paid by cash or card Why do I have to pay: The tax is something new and specifically aimed at tourists. It’s a cost beyond our control and the suppliers of the accommodation. It’s a Government imposed tax that has to be paid when you stay in accommodation in Greece. Whilst our website holiday information does mention the possibility of local taxes like this, we understand this cost is something you probably weren’t expecting to pay and are sorry the Government has decided to bring this in so quickly.
