Kefalonia (Ionian)
Kefalonia is the largest island in the Ionian Sea, neat door to the better known Zakynthos. Kefalonia is a good choice for a luxury holiday in the Greek Islands as there are a number of 'boutique style, hotels to choose from. The island covers an area of 781.5 square kilometers. In accordance to the latest census it has a population of around 40,000. Kefalonia is often mentioned in the ancient times while Ithaca is famous world wide from the Homer’s Epics. From centuries back, along with the Greek culture and spirit the island always had its own special character. Commerce was predominant in the island due to its geographic position.
