British arrivals up as Cyprus achieves record year

The number of UK travellers to Cyprus rose by more than 8% in 2017 as the island achieved a record-breaking year for tourism.

Numbers from the UK to Cyprus increased to more than 1.25 million from 1.15 million in 2016.

Total visitor arrivals grew by 14.6% to reach 3.6 million in 2017.

July was the most popular month with 176,880 arrivals from the UK out of a total of 531,030.

While August 2017 saw global arrivals fall to 523,651, it was the biggest month for UK visitors at 185,831.

Latest figures from the Cyprus Tourism Organisation for December show the UK and Greece being main sources of winter tourism.
