BA has added a new service from Heathrow to Marrakech from October. The airline will fly to the Moroccan city four times a week from Terminal 5 from October 28. The service runs on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The airline already flies from Gatwick to Marrakech eight times a week. British arrivals up as Cyprus achieves record year

The number of UK travellers to Cyprus rose by more than 8% in 2017 as the island achieved a record-breaking year for tourism. Numbers from the UK to Cyprus increased to more than 1.25 million from 1.15 million in 2016. Total visitor arrivals grew by 14.6% to reach 3.6 million in 2017. July was the most popular month with 176,880 arrivals from the UK out of a total of 531,030. Egypt hopes UK will follow Russian lead by resuming flights to Sharm

BA announces biggest Gatwick summer schedule in 10 years

More than 150 additional weekly flights have been added from the airport for summer 2018. Weekly flights to Malaga will be boosted from 27 to 35, Alicante from 14 to 22 and Faro from 17 to 21, while the airline's summer flights to Tenerife will increase from six per week to 13. Madeira will be bolstered from six to nine per week and Lanzarote will rise from three to five flights per week. All these flights are available for our holidays and are included in the £59pp booking deposit

Emirates is to start flying to Dubai from Stansted.

Emirates is to start flying to Dubai from Stansted. Daily flights are planned from June 8, 2018 using three-class Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. Stansted will be the seventh UK airport served by the Gulf carrier and the third in the London area after Heathrow and Gatwick. The aircraft will be configured with six first class seats, 42 in business class and 306 in economy. This new flight will enable our clients living in east of England and north-east London and the wider 7.5 million population within its catchment area, to enjoy our great holidays around the Arabian Gulf and dubai.

The Greek island of Kefalonia is to be served for the first time by British Airways from Heathrow. Summer-only flights will run twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays between May 15 and October 6.

BA parent IAG buys Gatwick landing slots from Monarch administrator

British Airways owner IAG has bought valuable take-off and landing slots at Gatwick being sold by the administrator of collapsed Monarch in a multi-million pound deal. IAG has won the bulk of the failed airline’s slots at the UK’s second-busiest airport after submitting a significant bid that trumped rival carriers. IAG, which also owns  BA, Iberia and Vueling in Spain, is trying  to increase frequencies and add new routes from Gatwick.

Sharm el Sheikh airport still no decision from UK Government

18 months after a $31M security upgrade at Sharm el Sheikh Airport was completed, the British government has re-iterated that there has been no change in stance on a flight ban to Sharm el Sheikh despite the Egyptian ambassador calling for British tourists to return to the Red Sea resort. A Department for Transport spokesperson said “we will resume flights as soon as we can” but that security measures were still under “constant review”. EasyJet changes checked-in baggage weight limits

EasyJet is altering the weight allowances for checked-in bags. The standard bag weight is being increased from 20kgs to 23kgs. A new 15kg bag allowance will be available at a cost of £8.99. The revised hold luggage options are available online, with prices rising to £13.99 for the 23kgs allowance. Passengers will continue to be able to pool their total weight allowance if they are travelling with family or friends on the same flight and booking.
