Holiday costs fall as sterling strengthens and prices drop

Call for Red Sea reef protection as Sharm el Sheikh flights resume

The lifting of UK flight restrictions to Sharm el Sheikh has prompted a call for tourists and dive operators to help protect reefs in the Red Sea. Holidaymakers returning to the Egyptian resort are being urged by a marine conservation charity to remember actions they can take to protect the country’s precious coral reefs. Reef-World Foundation, which co-ordinates the UN environmental programme’s Green Fins conservation initiative, and the Chamber of Diving & Watersports (CDWS) highlighted the issue ahead of an expected fresh influx of travellers. FCO lifts flight ban to Sharm el-Sheikh from TODAY

The government is no longer advising against all but essential travel by air to and from Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office lifted its restrictions on flights between the UK and the Egyptian resort at 11.06am today.
