The first of the island's new wave of smaller 'boutique' hotels, cool, modern, yet intimate, the Madeira Regency Cliff enjoys fine vistas over the bay and ocean. The roadside entrance of this small, stylish hotel gives little idea of the sleek decor and other delights within. Its setting on a bluff in a developing area a mile or so west of the capital ensures that the balconies of each room afford lovely views of Funchal Bay or the ocean. Dining on the terrace of the Mistral restaurant is a gastronomic and romantic experience. Informal lunches may be taken at the Oceanus bar by the heated outdoor pool, a few floors down. Further attractions are a heated indoor pool, fitness room and Turkish bath. There is direct access to the sea promenade, where extensive landscaping around the public lido contributes to the allure of the surroundings. A complimentary shuttle bus and frequent public transport connect with Funchal centre but there are several restaurants and a shopping centre within easy walking distance. If you have a hire car, then the free parking is an added bonus.

Location The Madeira Regency Cliff Hotel is located in Funchal, Madeira's capital on the island's beautiful south coast. Situated in the 'Lido', a tourist area west of the city centre, it is within easy reach of the swimming pools, countless restaurants, cafés, bars, two shopping centres, supermarkets and many other shops. The Lido has also a beautiful kilometre-long seaside promenade, lined with magnificent subtropical gardens and several public swimming pools with access to the sea. It is only a 30-minute stroll from the hotel to Funchal's historic centre, to which the hotel also provides a courtesy bus that ensures a regular service several times a day

The air-conditioned/heated rooms have bathroom with hairdryer, cable TV, mini-bar, safe (rental), tea and coffee making facilities and balcony with at least side seaview. Non-smoking and connecting rooms should be pre-booked. There are superior rooms with balcony and full seaview, premium rooms with sitting area, as well as suites with separate living room and terrace, all with full seaview.

Adjacent to the Restaurant Mistral and offering as magnificent views, this bar serves a wide choice of international and regional drinks and cocktails, including the traditional 'Poncha', a local speciality.

Bar Oceanus
This bar is located next to the outdoor pool and is the ideal place for a delicious lunch, serving mainly snacks and light meals as well as refreshing natural fruit juices and milkshakes.
