Truly out of the ordinary, this enchanting hotel has a unique garden and waterfront setting with an outdoor pool at sea level - the only Quinta to boast such a perfect arrangement. It all originates from a 100-year old manor that has been lovingly restored and added to.

Set in pretty bougainvillaea-terraced gardens this owner-managed hotel has a warm, informal atmosphere that attracts many repeat guests. The accommodation in the manor house retains many original features; the later garden wing has larger and more luxurious rooms. The modern part - the 'Mar' or 'Sea' wing - is across a tiny road and bridge and down by lift. Rooms are on three floors at sea level and the pool sun terrace has lovely views across the bay. The neighbourhood is fairly quiet and residential, with a few bars, restaurants and shops, but the city centre is barely a 15 minute walk. The contrast of modern and traditional in this unusual hotel makes it a fascinating place to stay.

Accommodation: 109 Rooms & Junior suites; Rooms are in the manor, garden wing or seafront wing. Some 'original' rooms have no air conditioning, others have balcony/terrace and air conditioning. Temperature-controlled superior rooms in the garden wing have bathroom with hairdryer, cable TV, safe (rental) and balcony with side seaview. Rooms and junior suites in the 'Mar' wing have full seaview, supplements apply.
