SAN
AGUSTIN is a quieter resort and a residential
area with a sandy beach and plenty of restaurants
in the commercial centres.
PLAYA
DEL INGLES is next down the coast and the largest
resort on the island. There is a wide selection
of shops and direct access to the eight
kilometre
long sand dunes leading to MASPALOMAS.
This resort is the most southerly on the
island
and is a quiet area of quality hotels,
some of which are built in the adjoining
area
of COSTA MELONERAS. High in the mountains
with views out to sea is the charming rural
village of SAN BARTHOLME DE TIRAHANA, here
you can enjoy country pursuits such as
walking and cycling.
LAS PALMAS, the capital city, is a large metropolitan cily with pleanty of department stores, restaurants and bars, a good place fpr a days serious shopping
Gran Canaria is full of surprises and contrasts
and is well worth a visit.
