The
second largest Canary Island, 725 sq kms
and almost completely flat, the closest
to Africa and is by far the least developed.
The island has the finest sandy beaches
of all the Canary Islands with mile after
mile of clean golden sand almost 50% of
the coastline is beach. Fuerteventura has
a stable year round climate with an average
daytime temperature of 19.7 degrees Celsius.
CORRALEJO is the main resort of the north
coast, facing Lanzarote, the town offers
a good selection of shops, restaurants and
bars, and has a working harbour which adds
to the atmosphere of the place. The hotels
are located in the town or built opposite
the sand dunes, an area of outstanding natural
beauty, 2 kilometres south of the town.
Some 80 kilometres to the south of Corralejo
rest the fine beaches of the southern part
of the island. The small resort of COSTA
CALMA is at the beginning of the PLAYA
BARCA beach which joins up with the PLAYA
SOTAVENTO extending a further 26 kilometres - golden
sand all the way to the southern tip of the
island PLAYA JANDIA.
MORRO JABLE is
the main resort in the south. It has a
similar amount of charm as Corralejo
in the north. Here you will find opportunities
for most types of watersports.
"Fuerteventura is the ideal for a quiet holiday
with splendid beaches or alternatively
there is a large selection of sporting activities
such as windsurfing, diving and sailing"
