Tenerife is well known and the most popular Canary Island. Although overdeveloped in the past, the locals have learned by their mistakes and the newest developments are all top quality, especially in the new Costa Adeje coastal area. A coastal walkaway runs along the seafront passing all the resort and beach areas. It runs from the port of Los Cristianos in the east through Playa de las Americas, past the beaches of Playa Fanabe and Playa del Duque along the Costa Adeje and finishes at the fishing village of La Caleta. The pathway gives easy access to restaurants, bars and the beaches.

As described above this is the latest area for development on the south coast of Tenerife. From the ouset the area was designated for Four and Five star hotels only, all are now complete. Los Cristianos 30 years ago this was the only town of any significance on Tenerife's south coast as it is the only port at this end of the island, where the regular ferry crossings to the islands of La Gomera and La Palma set off from.
