Gran Canaria
Gran Canaria is the largest of the Canary Islands and is the seat of the local Canary Island government. The north of the island is dominated by the port and capital city of Las Palmas and in the south are the resorts of San Agustin, Playa del Ingles, Maspalomas and Playa Meloneras. Out of all these resorts our preference is for Maspalomas and Playa Meloneras, both these resorts are not too large and have a selection of four star and five star quality hotels and a choice and bars and restaurants
Maspalomas:
Maspalomas is the location of a vast area of unspoilt sand dunes which makes the backdrop to the long sandy beach at the southern point of the island. The hotels are centred near the lighthouse at the end of the beach. This is essentially an up market area with only quality hotels.Playa Meloneras:
An up and coming area next to Maspalomas. It is on the southern coast of Gran Canaria and is a stretch of mainly rocky coast, where new hotels have been built in well landscaped surroundings.
San Agustin:
A residential area with luxury villas and apartment with Five Star hotels on the beachfront.The beach is sandy and is excellent for those who like snorkelling or diving. During night time there are plenty of restaurants and bars with live Latin music.Hotels in Gran Canaria:
