Resort: Menorca, Balearic Is
Menorca, Balearic Is
Although only a few miles separate Menorca from its larger sister island they are both quite different in character. in the 17th Century was one of the Mediterranean Islands belonging to the British Empire along with Malta and Cyprus. Admiral Nelson and others were attracted to the island by the magnificent natural harbour in the island's capital, Mahon, many of the buildings and country houses around the capital were built for the Navy and look so English.
At the far west of the island is the city of Citadella and is a complete contrast to Mahon a typical Spanish city you would find anywhere on the mainland, rich in history and culture. The idyllic coastline is dotted with over a hundred glorious beaches, including the highly recommended Punta Prima, Cala'n Bosch and Cala Galdana.
