The resort of Illetas, is only 8 kms from the centre of Palma and without any through traffic is very peaceful. The Bon Sol nestles amid pine trees on a hillside facing the sea. Built in 1953, before the arrival of package tourism, the hotel was a favourite choice for Errol Flynn and his followers and now, while not quite so small and exclusive, you can still spot the rich and beautiful escaping for some sun and relaxation. The hotel, reminiscent of a grand private house, which it originally was, is built on a pinecovered hillside and has subtropical gardens reaching down to the small beach. The main part of the hotel, reception, breakfast room, restaurant overlooks the gardens pool and sea. Many of the rooms are in 'bungalow style' built in cascading terraces with gardens alive with seasonal flowers and pathways leading down to a small bay with its sandy beach. The interior of the hotel is in traditional Spanish style. Well located both for a beach holiday and sightseeing in nearby Palma, the Bon Sol has over the years earned an excellent reputation for service with a unique family run atmosphere .
'Las Anchorchas' restaurant in the main hotel serves dinner every evening. It is a four course menu with full waiter service.
The Beach restaurant serves a buffet lunch and snacks at blunchtime as well as an a la carte menu in the evening (supplement €12, reservation required).
Dinner is waiter service except for an extensive salad buffet.
In the Summer snack lunches can also be taken on the terrace of the main bar .

Illetas is a small residential village with a few bars and restaurants but mainly quiet. Car hire is not required as the public transport links to Palma are excellent €1.25 flat fare. "We had an excellent time at the Bon Sol. The facilities were superb, the staff were very pleasant, the breakfasts were the best I've seen, anywhere!
The fact that they had 2 restaurants was most useful, we alternated between the two in the evening. As you know, one of the restaurants was by the beach, in a very romantic setting, and even though the hotel was not full, we had to make sure we booked for the beach restaurant, because it was full every night!
On our departure date, we were allowed to use our room till late afternoon, because we had a late flight home - no problem.
Many thanks for your excellent service and detailed knowledge of the hotel. This is what clinched our choice in the first place! We would certainly recommend it to others."

Many thanks - you managed to get us the same room as last year, right down by the seafront, only a few steps for Anthony to get to the kift. Food was superb as usual and the service first class and not one day of rain so much better weather than last year.
