In the centre of lively Vilamoura, close to the yacht marina and all the attractions, the Dom Pedro Marina is a well-run , established hotel that is very popular with visitors from the UK. Staff as a rule speak English and are friendly and helpful. A good range of leisure facilities including golf nearby means the hotel is frequented by families as well as golfers. It is an excellent choice for an activity-filled holiday. The vast beach is a short walk and guests have access to a reserved area with deck chair and umbrellas at a charge.
There are two outdoor pools, one for children, and plenty of space in which to relax on the surrounding sun terraces and shady lawns of the secluded gardens. Good value lunch time snacks are available at the pool bar. The restaurant (also open to the public - always a good sign) serves Italian inspired, Portuguese and international specialties, and there is a daily 'happy hour' at the bar and regular music and dancing.
The Vilamoura and Vila Sol golf courses are quickly reached by the free shuttle bus and tennis, horse riding, clay shooting, cycling, lawn bowling and jeep safaris are easily arranged. One side of the marina is lined with shops and there is a good selection of bars, cafes and restaurants, and the facilities of the almost adjacent dom Pedro Portobelo and Dom Pedro Gold Resort hotels are available to guests. If you want to test your luck or see a show, and perhaps have dinner at the same time, then the casino is a few minutes' walk.
